FINA Swimming World Cup 2020 is canceled including Doha’s meet.

FINA canceled Swimming World Cup 2020 meets. Khalil Al-Jaber: the safety of everyone comes first FINA has canceled Swimming World Cup 2020 due to the coronavirus outbreak. Doha meet was initially scheduled for October, but with the decision of the FINA, this year’s World Cup will be canceled and will be held next year. Qatar Swimming Association expects to place the 2021 edition in Doha from 21 to 23 October, as Qatar organized it annually. Doha’s meet has always been praised by FINA officials, and it was one cause of Qatar winning the right to host the World Aquatics Championships 2023, this swimming event that is held every two years, is considered to be the largest swimming championship ever to be organized. QSA headed by Khalil Al-Jaber, is expecting decisions to be issued by FINA to arrange matters, which Qatar most likely prepared for, as it is experienced in delivering high-profile sporting events. Given that nature of the global current situation, the Association is considering home team’s upcoming competing opportunities, and the new dates for the tournaments expected to participate in. Seeking the most safe conditions for the national swimmers, all in line with the desire to develop the level of swimmers and make them exist in the heart the competition . On one hand, Khalil Al-Jaber, President of the Qatar Swimming Association, emphasized saying: “Doha is accustomed in organizing distinguished sporting event, and for us in Qatar Swimming Association, we know the importance of Swimming World Cups meets, from breaking records in it and the need to prepare them, but the current circumstances need the solidarity of all”. He added: “swimming competitions needs to be at the highest levels of safety for all swimmers, and after the FINA studied the situation as well as advice from health officials, the decision was to postpone all tournaments until the end of the year, and this is for the safety of everyone. Hence, we welcome and support this decision.” He also indicated: “the safety of everyone comes first, and we hope Coronavirus will end and things will return to their normal shape in the near future. For us, we are preparing our swimmers well to be fully prepared for any upcoming tournaments”
